The Monkey Group Chat Plans One Simple Picnic

An original fictional comedy from CyberMunkiez.

Just pick a day

Milo created a group chat called QUICK PICNIC PLAN. He wrote, “Saturday? Park? Noon?”

Nina replied with a thumbs-up. Gus sent a weather screenshot covering fourteen days and three towns. Pip asked which park. Milo sent a map.

Pip reacted to the map with a squirrel.

Nobody knew whether this meant yes.

By breakfast, the chat had a new name, a custom icon, and a poll asking whether polls were the best way to make decisions. These fictional monkeys had turned lunch outdoors into a committee.

The document nobody requested

Nina opened a shared planning document. It had tabs for food, seating, transport, and risks. The risks tab contained one entry: “This document.”

Gus volunteered to bring everything crunchy. Pip asked whether that included gravel. Milo reminded everyone that they were discussing sandwiches.

A second poll proposed moving the picnic to Sunday. A third proposed returning to Saturday. A fourth asked if anyone had seen the first poll.

Then someone changed the group photo to a picnic basket wearing sunglasses. This received unanimous approval, making it the first completed decision.

Milo briefly considered printing it and eating at home.

The accidental picnic

On Saturday, Nina went to the park to escape her notifications. Gus was there because he had bought too many crackers. Pip had followed the original map. Milo arrived carrying four sandwiches and the expression of someone who had stopped expecting anything.

They sat down.

For an hour, nobody mentioned logistics. They ate, laughed, and watched a paper napkin attempt a solo career in the wind.

“This was easy,” Pip said.

Their phones buzzed together. Someone had scheduled a reminder: FINALIZE PICNIC PLAN.

Milo muted the chat.

Before they left, Gus suggested doing it again next week. Nina said yes, on one condition: nobody was allowed to create a group.
